Popeyes in Butler Township officially opens Wednesday

BUTLER TWP — Joseph Miller and his fellow colleagues at Jiffy Lube in Alameda Plaza have been waiting for what feels like a long time for the Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen directly next door to be complete.

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, their wait was over as the fast-food chain known for its fried chicken officially opened for business at 100 Alameda Plaza in Butler Township.

Within the first hour of opening, the drive-through line was stretching out into the rest of the plaza.

Miller was one of the first customers in line once the doors were unlocked, and he said it’s nice to see something different come to Butler.

“I think having a bit more of a different selection, especially closer to the city is nicer,” Miller said. “A lot of stuff is a good travel away.”

Butler Township’s planning commission originally granted conditional approval of a land development plan in February 2022 for the restaurant. Plans at that time called for demolition of an existing building on the property, which had housed a Berkshire Hathaway real estate office, and the construction of the new restaurant.

The construction began in April 2024.

The restaurant features seating for about 15 patrons.

A manager was unavailable for comment, but there was a sign along New Castle Road stating the restaurant is taking open interviews between noon and 4 p.m.
