Santa’s Caravan set to kick off Seven Fields Light-Up Night

While Santa Claus has plenty of responsibilities at the North Pole during this time of year, he always carves out time to spread Christmas joy and greet the residents of Seven Fields in early December.

The borough will mark the occasion with its annual Santa’s Caravan on Saturday, Dec. 7, beginning at 3 p.m. at Mosside Loop.

“I think it gets everyone excited for the evening’s festivities,” said borough manager Tom Smith. “It just really builds up the excitement for a lot of families with children. I just think it’s overall a nice event to top off the end of the year with everything else the council does for the residents.”

The event serves as an appropriate prelude to the borough’s yearly Light-Up Night, which takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seven Fields Community Center, 380 Castle Creek Drive.

Santa will be escorted by members of the Northern Regional Police Department and an Adams Area Fire District truck. He is also slated to pass up his sleigh in favor of riding in one of the borough’s public works department trucks.

Each year, the route is predetermined so every family has the chance to glimpse the caravan. After starting at Mosside Loop, that route goes through Warrick, Southridge, Cumberland, Wellington, Sycamore, Linden Court, Jameson Way, Northridge, Dorchester and Bristol.

“The kids always come outside and they toss the candy to them,” Smith said. “I’ve always gotten great feedback from the residents that they really enjoy it. As for the kids, it really just hypes them all up for the evening.”

The Seneca Valley Senior High School chorus will sing Christmas carols during the event for the second year, and for the first time, the event will feature live reindeer from Apthorp Farms.

Light-Up Night also will feature the lighting of the Seven Fields Town Park Christmas tree and an ice sculpture demonstration by Mastro Ice. There will be hot beverages and food, including Carlucci’s Pizza and Mediterra.
