Wilbert “Bert” L. Enslen, 91, of Renfrew, passed away on Monday morning, Dec. 2, 2024, at Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Beaver, Pa.

Born Feb. 20, 1933, in a log cabin outside of Evans City, he was the last of 14 children born to Jesse and Catherine Burr Enslen.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ for 59 years. Bert was considered the handyman, always ready to help paint, clean and do other maintenance jobs for the church.

He began his first job working at the Zelienople greenhouses, then on to American Bridge and J&L Steel, Aliquippa Works, retiring after 35 years as a foreman.

Bert was very involved with the Butler County Farmers’ Market Association for 22 years. He also enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 siblings.

Wilbert, “Bert,” is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Jean Huffman Enslen; one son, Jeffrey L. and his wife, Natalie (MacMillan); two daughters, Cheryl (Kent) Maier and Laurie Silverman; three granddaughters, Krista (Cody) Bush, Kayla (Matt) Jordan and Rebecca Maier; and many nieces and nephews.

ENSLEN — Friends and relatives of Wilbert “Bert” Enslen, who died Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at A. CARL KINSEY-RONALD N. VOLZ FUNERAL HOME, 328 W. Main St., Evans City. Services will follow with pastor Lisa Griffin officiating.

The family has suggested memorial donations be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City, PA 16033.
