The borough of East Brady in Clarion County, along with the East Brady Area Development Corporation, will host an annual Light Up Night and Cookie Crawl from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7.

While Light Up Night has been an East Brady tradition for many years, the Cookie Crawl is only entering its third year.

“We've had Light Up Night for many, many years, and we wanted to have something to have that day,” said East Brady secretary and treasurer Susan Buechele. “So we came up with the idea of the cookie crawl.”

The Cookie Crawl itself kicks off at 1 p.m., with cookies available at 17 places within a walkable stretch of East Brady Township. Each cookie passport comes with a bag crawlers can place cookies in.

The township is selling passports for the Cookie Crawl for $8 at its office at Arnold Beabout Community Center, as well as the Old Bank Deli. Both are located on Kelly’s Way.

At 4 p.m. Saturday, between the Cookie Crawl and Light Up Night, the borough will welcome Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus to Veterans Park, with the help of the East Brady Volunteer Fire Department.

Light Up Night kicks off at 5 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, with an invocation from East Brady mayor William Rode. As with each year, the local American Legion will recognize a local veteran during Light Up Night. This year, that veteran is Joe Kusick, who died in 2015.

Even before the cookie crawl begins, some establishments will have activities on offer, including the Allegheny Hills Retirement Residence, which will be hosting a rummage sale and selling luminaria kits starting at 10 a.m.
