The county’s results from the Nov. 5 election that heavily favored President-elect Donald Trump and fellow Republican Dave McCormick for U.S. Senate were certified and submitted to the state.
The certified results are the same as the unofficial results the county election bureau posted on Election Day, said Chantell McCurdy, bureau director. Those results remain on the bureau website.
McCurdy said the results were certified by the bureau Nov. 18 and sent to the state on Nov. 25.
In addition, 81 undated or incorrectly dated mail-in ballots were not counted, she said.
Bureau staff completed about 75% of the automatic recount of the results of the race between McCormick and incumbent Democrat Bob Case before Casey conceded to McCormick, ending the recount, McCurdy said. Casey conceded the race Nov. 21.
An automatic recount is triggered by law when a statewide race is within a 0.5% margin. McCormick received 3,399,295 votes, or 48.82%, to defeat Casey who received 3,384,180 votes, or 48.60%, according to results posted by the Department of State.
In the county, Trump received 79,773 votes, or 65.45%, and Vice President Kamala Harris received 40,661, votes, or 33.36%; and McCormick defeated Casey by 77,328, or 63.89%, to 40,973, or 33.85%.
County voters also resoundingly supported Republican Dave Sunday over Democrat Eugene DePasquale for attorney general. Sunday received 77,951 votes, or 65.20%, and DePasquale received 37,987 votes, or 31.77%.
Statewide, Trump received 3,543,308 votes, or 50.37%, and Harris received 3,423,042 votes, or 48.66% and Sunday defeated DePasquale by 3,496,679 votes, or 50.81%, to 3,179,376 votes, or 46.20%.
