Dick Van Dyke celebrates 99th birthday in new Coldplay music video

British rock band Coldplay helped Dick Van Dyke celebrate his 99th birthday in a sweet new music video released Friday, a week before the legendary actor kicks off his landmark year.

The video, directed by Oscar winner Spike Jonze and Mary Wigmore, opens with Van Dyke walking out to a courtyard where frontman Chris Martin sits at a piano.

Martin then serenades Van Dyke with a rendition of Coldplay’s recent single “All My Love,” parts of which the two sing together through laughter. Van Dyke remains the picture of youth as he dances to the tune in a moment reminiscent of his famed routines from 1964’s “Mary Poppins.”

Along with scenes of Van Dyke dancing, the seven-minute director’s cut is filled with photographs of his family and musing on his life and legacy — resulting in love letter to Van Dyke’s iconic career.

Though the actor, who turns 99 on Dec. 13, acknowledges he could “go any day now,” he says he’s “not afraid of it.”

“I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual, that I’m going to be alright,” says the father of four and grandfather of at least seven. “When you think how lucky I am — I got to do what I do, play and act silly.”

Van Dyke is then joined by his “big family,” including his wife of 12 years, Arlene Silver, all of whom embrace and pose for the camera.

According to People, a shorter version of the music video will be released on Van Dyke’s actual birthday.
