Recently, Republicans in the U.S. Congress introduced a rule change that would restrict bathroom use by transgender individuals in the Capitol and House office buildings, clearly in response to the election of Rep. Sarah McBride. D-Del., the first openly transgender congresswoman.

I feel the current Republican-controlled Congress has been one of the most ineffective in history, barely able to pass enough bills to keep the government functioning. Surely, with all the important work the Congress has yet to do, there are more important priorities than this gesture of hatred and bigotry not just to McBride but to the many other trans individuals who work in or visit the Capitol.
