Santa’s Caravan highlights Seven Fields Light-Up Night
Santa Claus made his annual trip around Seven Fields in the lead up to the borough’s annual Light-Up Night festivities on Saturday, Dec. 7.
Santa passed up his sleigh in favor of riding in back of a Seven Fields Public Works Department truck. An Adams Area firetruck and members of the Northern Regional Police Department helped guide the 1-mile journey.
After departing from the Seven Fields Community Center shortly after 3 p.m., a jolly Saint Nick traveled to various locations around the borough, including Mosside Loop, Warrick, Southridge, Cumberland, Wellington, Sycamore, Linden Court, Jameson Way, Northridge, Dorchester and Bristol.
“The kids always come outside and they toss the candy to them,” borough manager Tom Smith said. “I’ve always gotten great feedback from the residents that they really enjoy it. As for the kids, it really just hypes them all up for the evening.”
Light-Up Night followed, starting at 6 p.m. at the Seven Fields Community Center, where families greeted Santa Claus and had the opportunity to enjoy hot food and drinks from Carlucci’s Pizza and Mediterra.
In addition to witnessing the lighting of the Town Park Christmas tree, residents had the chance to meet live reindeer from Apthorp Farms for the first time in the event’s history. There was also a riveting ice sculpture demonstration by Mastro Ice, and the Seneca Valley High School Madrigal Singers also performed at the event for the second consecutive year.
Borough council and Mayor Dean Galitsis annually plan the event for more than 2,800 residents that call the borough home.
