Madison Romanovich poured in 20 points and Brielle Jordan another 17 as Slippery Rock girls basketball defeated West Middlesex 60-33 Tuesday night. CJ Sabo added 12 points in the win.
Shaler 58, Butler 50 — Amelia McMichael scored 24 points — nearly half of the Golden Tornado’s output — in a Tuesday night loss. Butler (3-1) plays its home opener Wednesday against Erie.
Cochranton 33, Moniteau 31 — Sayge Brunst had a team-best 14 points for the Warriors, who were outscored 14-6 after entering the final frame up by six.
Boys basketball
South Fayette 67, Seneca Valley 29 — No Raider was able to manage double digits in the points column. Owen Congdon led the way with eight points. Seneca Valley posted seven points or fewer in all but one quarter.
Clarion 47, Karns City 31 — Shane Peters led the Gremlins with 12 points, 10 of them in the second half in a road loss. Jacob Jones scored eight.
North Clarion 47, Union 46 — Trent Fleming’s 20 points weren’t enough for the Knights in the close defeat.
