Paul Emmett III
Paul Vernon Emmett III, 71, of West Middlesex, Pa., passed away at home on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Paul was born on June 24, 1953, in Grove City, to Paul V. and Constance C. (VanDyke) Emmett Jr. He married Karen Campman on Nov. 28, 1987, who survives at home.
Paul was a 1971 graduate of Slippery Rock High School, where he was voted “Most Courteous.” He served in the U.S. Army as military police in the Panama Canal Zone. Following his service, Paul graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business/management and marketing. He retired after 28 years at Grace Industries Inc. in Fredonia, Pa., as vice president of operations.
Paul was extremely active at Christ Lutheran Church, Sharon. He was a member of the church council serving several terms as president, an usher, on the property, columbarium and endowment committees, and assisted with and enjoyed church activities. He was a member of Grove City Masonic Lodge 689 and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He volunteered for the St. John’s Episcopal Church weekly community lunches.
Paul enjoyed golfing, reading, taking care of his yard and home, and traveling with Karen. He had an analytical mind and would puzzle out an answer to any question. Paul found and brought out the best in people. He was always there to help, and those who knew him are better for having known him.
In addition to his wife, Karen, Paul is survived by his mother, Constance “Connie” Emmett of New Wilmington; sisters, Gail Chutz (Dennis) of Grove City, Sandy Gorniak (Greg) of Fairview and Mary Jane Kennedy (Mark) of Clearfield; nieces, Amanda Ralston (Aaron) of Ventura, Calif., Amber Chutz (Chris Arnold) of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Alissa Higgins (Matt) of Morgantown, W.Va.; nephews, Josh Kennedy (Tiara) of Olanta, Pa., and Paul Kennedy of Clearfield; several great-nieces and great-nephews; goddaughter, Deanna Alan (Bradley) and family of Hermitage; as well as his foreign exchange daughter, Christina Weisheit of Weimar, Germany.
