BUFFALO TWP -- The board of supervisors, during their monthly meeting on Wednesday night, Dec. 11, granted a four-year extension Police Chief Tim Derringer.

Derringer has served in some capacity with the Buffalo Township police for over two decades, and has served as the chief since 2017.

“I look forward to growing the department and helping in any way possible to make this a safer community moving forward,” Derringer said after Wednesday night’s meeting.

“He’s done a tremendous job for the township,” said township supervisor Michael J. Oehling, Jr.

The new contract, which extends his term of employment to 2025, would also raise Derringer’s salary from $94,000 per year to $110,000 per year.

“We think it’s only fair to bring him up to par with other municipalities that parallel our size and our force’s size,” said township supervisor Ron Zampogna.

During the meeting, both township officials and residents gave Derringer praise for sorting out recent issues with speeding on township roads.

“Last month, after we had the discussion about how dangerous and how speedy my road is, Chief Derringer had the electronic speed limit sign posted outside of my driveway by, like, 9 a.m. the next morning,” said township resident Kristen Diehl.
