JEFFERSON TWP — The supervisors finalized the township’s budget for 2025 during their monthly meeting on Monday evening, Dec. 9. The 2025 budget will not include an increase in the local millage rate, which will stay at one mill.

The budget, with all funds accounted for, estimates that the township will receive $2,161,695 in revenue against $2,729,708 in expenditures in the 2025 fiscal year. This adds up to a deficit of $568,013.

However, as they did for the 2024 fiscal year, the township intends to carry over funds from its reserves to make up for the shortfall.

The township estimates that it will have a balance of $3,049,880 at the start of 2025, and $2,481,867 at the end of the year.

Of the more than $2.7 million in expenses, $785,600 has been earmarked for “culture & recreation,” while another $615,000 is reserved for public works.

Meanwhile, the vast majority of the township’s projected income for 2025, $855,355, is expected to come from local services tax.

Jefferson Township’s millage rate of one mill is the lowest of any municipality in Butler County, with only Cherry Valley borough’s rate of 1.05 mills coming anywhere close.
