Wayne Watson
Wayne Merle Watson, 88, of Cabot, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, at Magnolia Place in Saxonburg.
Born June 11, 1936, in Cabot, he was the son of Harold G. Watson and Louise B. Campbell Watson.
Wayne was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Church in Cabot and the Butler County Conservation District. Wayne was a lifelong farmer who supplied hay to the mushroom mine and area farms. He also delivered limestone in the surrounding communities. He was retired from Pullman Standard after 23 years of service. In the early 1970s, he was a member of an antique car club. Wayne enjoyed collecting toy tractors and proudly displayed them in his home, eagerly showing them to anyone who came to visit.
Surviving are two sons, Philip Watson of Cabot and Bruce (Lisa) Watson of Butler; four daughters, Marie (Rick) Patellos of Pataskala, Ohio, Joyce (Mike) Davanzati of Sarver, Linda Watson of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Amy (Jason) Watson of Butler; his brother, Lee (Rosa) Watson of Cabot; three sisters, Shirley Smith of Saxonburg, Karen (Bill) Klauss of Brunswick, Ohio, and Ruby Wilkosz of Allison Park; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Cecelia (Stegman) Watson, who passed on Aug. 31, 2019.
Wayne’s family would like to express their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Magnolia Place in Saxonburg and Hope Hospice. The family also would like to especially thank their friend, Joe, for the additional care and friendship given to Dad during the last years of his illness.
WATSON — Friends of Wayne Merle Watson, who died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2024, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. John Church in Coylesville, 668 Clearfield Road, Fenelton, with Father James Kurtz officiating. Everyone please meet at the church.
Interment will follow in the Butler County Memorial Park.
