College roundup: Butler grad David Bocci, Knoch grad Scott Fraser earn honors

Butler grad David Bocci was named PSAC men’s swimmer of the week after a busy record-breaking weekend.

The Clarion University senior made multiple NCAA B cuts and broke multiple schools records at Akron University’s Zippy Invite last week. Bocci broke a 31-year-old school record in the 200-yard free with a 1:38.62 split in the 800 free relay. He also reset his 500 free record with a 4:25.96 during qualifying and finished second in the final.

On Sunday, he secured his third NCAA B cut with a 1:46.80 prelim time in the 200 butterfly. He finished third later that day in the final.

Knoch grad Fraser recognized as All-Region

Knoch graduate and Grove City College senior wide receiver Scott Fraser was named a D3football.com All-Region 2 second-teamer Wednesday afternoon.

Fraser helped the Wolverines claim their second consecutive Presidents’ Athletic Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs. He caught 81 passes for 1,307 yards and 14 touchdowns throughout the course of the campaign.

This marks the fourth time Fraser has been tapped All-Region by the website. He was a first-teamer each of the past three seasons.

SRU holds commencement for football players

Six football players were given a unique commencement ceremony Thursday.

Chris D’Or, Savion Harrison, Eli Podgorski, Logan Ramper, Cody Ross and Andrew Vince participated in graduation ceremonies because they will miss Saturday’s fall graduation as they visit Ferris State in the NCAA Division II semifinals.
