James Snyder
James W. Snyder, 88, of Butler, passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, with his family at his side.
He was born Oct. 6, 1936, a son of the late Thomas Snyder and Beatrice (Rainey) Snyder.
James retired in 2001 from the B&O Railroad, later known as CSX Railroad, following 42 years. He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler, and was formerly a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He had enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, reading, listening to music, and talking with friends and neighbors. His love was for his family, also spending time with his fur baby and fur grandbabies.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa A. (Suchonic) Snyder, whom he married May 16, 1964; two daughters, Kimberly (Edward) Desmond and Jennifer Snyder; one sister, Betty Jo (Bill) Allen; his loving fur baby, Riley Cooper, aka “The Pooh”; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy and Bobby; and his sisters, Maryann and Judy.
SNYDER — Friends of James W. Snyder, who died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.
Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery, Butler.
