Basketball players hit the floor Nov. 22 at Moniteau Jr./Sr. High School for a scrimmage, pitting two teams against one another, which were each made up of alumni covering decades of the school’s history.

The Moniteau Basketball Boosters organized the alumni game — the first in several years. Jacqui Tedeski, booster organization secretary, said the group brought the event back as a way to recognize and introduce all the winter sports teams in the high school. These included not only the junior varsity and varsity boys and girls basketball programs, but also the junior high boys and girls basketball teams, winter cheer, the decathlon team and the Warrior Pep Band.

According to Tedeski, 23 alumni participated in the game, and their teams were coached by Dee Arblaster, current head coach of the girls team, and former elementary coach, Roger Grossman. In the game, siblings Lake and Ashlyn Pry played against each other, and two father and son duos squared off as well: Roger and Randy Grossman and Mike and Jake Jewart.

Tedeski said the alumni game was also a chance for the community to donate a toy to the Toys for Tots program in Butler County.
