High school roundup: Slippery Rock girls basketball wins 4th straight behind CJ Sabo’s 31 points

Slippery Rock girls basketball won its fourth straight to improve to 5-1, thumping Meadville 65-35 Thursday night.

CJ Sabo dominated with 31 points (13 in the first quarter and 14 in the third) and 10 rebounds. Madison Romanovich also had a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards. Brielle Jordan dished out six assists to go along with nine points.

Knoch 41, Highlands 30 — The Knights won their third straight as Neah Ewing scored 17 points, making four 3-pointers.

Liv Foster had eight points and Aubrey Spencer seven for Knoch (3-5, 3-0 section).

Mars 63, West Allegheny 56 — Vita Vargo dropped a game-high 27 points as the Planets (4-2, 1-1 section) scored 40 points in the second half to pull away in this one after trailing by six at halftime.

Vargo made four 3s. Alexis Cashdollar finished with 10 points.

Cranberry Area 55, Moniteau 36 — Sophia Fleeger drained a pair of 3s to finish with a Warriors-high nine points. Emily Matz finished with seven points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Berries had three players in double figures, led by Avery Coe with 16.

The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Moniteau (3-6, 3-1 region).

Butler beat Trinity 800-61x to 793-58x. No other details were provided.
