Property Tax/Rent Rebate program deadline approaching
The deadline for Pennsylvania’s expanded Property Tax/Rent Rebate is Dec. 31.
Applications can be filed online via myPATH or in-person at Department of Revenue offices, state legislators’ offices and local agencies. Filing is free, and online submissions provide instant confirmation and access to tools like automatic calculators, according to a release from Gov. Josh Shaprio.
Eligibility is based on income and age, with specific tiers for homeowners and renters. Applicants must reapply annually.
The program, which is supported by the Pennsylvania Lottery, benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older, widows and widowers age 50 and older and people with disabilities age 18 and older. It now offers increased income limits and a higher maximum rebate of $1,000, following its first expansion since 2006.
Since its inception in 1971, the program has delivered more than $8 billion in property tax and rent relief to those in need.
