Summit Twp. continues progress on sewer project
SUMMIT TWP — Supervisors discussed the progress of the sewer work at their regular meeting Wednesday, Dec. 18.
According to sewer authority president Dave Barry, the authority is prepared to approach PENNVEST for funding. Afterward, a contractor still needs to be hired.
“Hopefully we’ll, within a year, start to dig the project,” Barry said. “Then, two years later, we should be done.”
Barry acknowledged the project is contentious, with many residents against the project altogether. However, there are no plans to stop the project.
The sewer authority is planning a public meeting soon, with current tentative dates being discussed for January. The commissioners hope to have a date set before the new year.
The meeting also saw the unanimous approval of a pay increase for the supervisors from an annual maximum pay of $1,875 to $3,145. This pay increase will not go into effect until a supervisor is reelected.
