More charges filed in Butler County drug ring

State police filed drug, corrupt organization and conspiracy charges against nine Butler County residents who were indicted in November for operating a drug ring in the county by the same grand jury that recently indicted 17 people on similar charges.

Charged Thursday, Dec. 19, were Amber R. Wallace, 43, of West Sunbury and Butler residents Marki M. Seezox, 34; James T. Matuke III, 36; James R. Hutchinson III, 37; Courtney A. Wilson, 33; Kelly L. Wilson, 55; Loriann McKinney, 56: Richelle A. Robertson, 38; and Rainy Marie Rose, 39.

Seezox, Kelly Wilson and Wallace were also charged Nov. 20 following the first round of indictments. Both rounds of indictments were issued by the 51st statewide investigating grand jury Nov. 19.

The latest indictment focuses on Seezox, who is described as a member of a heroin and cocaine trafficking organization run by Jeffrey Wilkins, 41, of York, who was named as the ringleader in the first indictment for establishing a network of people to deliver large amounts of controlled substances from York County to Butler County and sell the drugs in Butler County.

However, the latest indictment alleges that Seezox ran a separate drug ring that distributed large amounts of fentanyl and crack cocaine in the county.

Investigators used electronic and in-person surveillance, recorded prison phone calls, confidential informants, traffic stops and search warrants to identify the suspects in Seezox’s ring.

Seezox primarily worked with Matuke, who she began dating, but they also sold their own supplies of the drugs. Matuke’s stamp bags had an orange stamp and Seezox’s bags had a pink stamp, which led the sales competition to be known as the battle between the oranges and the pinks, according to the indictment.

Seezox is believed to have gotten her drugs from people from Philadelphia and Matuke went to Pittsburgh to obtain his supply, according to the indictment.

Two people who were not indicted, including a 17-year-old girl, worked as runners for Seezox by delivering drugs to her customers and dropping off large amounts of drugs for other people to sell in September and October 2023 when Seezox lived in the 500 block of Center Avenue in Butler, according to the indictment.

In addition, Seezox and Matuke used a home in the 200 block of West Locust Street and an apartment Kelly L. Wilson rented at 300 W. Cunningham St. in Butler for drug sales, according to the indictment.

Police stopped a man on Oct. 17, 2023, when he left Seezox’s home after staying a short time and found him in possession of 49 stamp bags of fentanyl and xylazine marked as “turtles,” according to the indictment.

After hearing the man “flipped” on her to police, Seezox moved into a home in the 300 block of Oak Street with two other people and resumed selling drugs, according to the indictment.

McKinney’s apartment in the Green Acres Apartments on Litman Road in Butler Township was used as a stash house where Seezox and Matuke stored cash and drugs in a safe. They paid McKinney with drugs for the use of her apartment, according to the indictment.

In March this year, Butler County Drug Task Force officers stopped a man after he bought three stamp bags of heroin marked “new balance” for $60 from Seezox and Matuke. That traffic stop led to police obtaining and executing a search warrant at the Oak Street home where Seezox and Matuke were staying. The search resulted in the seizure of 6,753 stamp bags of heroin, 285 grams of cocaine and 98 grams of fentanyl and xylazine, and $28,888, according to the indictment.

A search of Matuke’s vehicle the next day found 327 bags of fentanyl and xylazine and 23 grams of cocaine, according to the indictment.

Following an April 16 controlled buy of $100 worth of crack cocaine from 300 W. Cunningham St., a search warrant executed the next day found 55 grams of cocaine, 365 bags of fentanyl and $762. Seezox, Matuke, Kelly Wilson and three other people were there when the warrant was executed, according to the indictment.

A woman who was arrested with Seezox, Matuke and Kelly Wilson on April 17, died from a drug overdose on May 21, a day after she was released from prison, according to the indictment.

All of the defendants were charged with felony counts of corrupt organizations, dealing in the proceeds of unlawful activities, criminal use of a communication facility, two counts of conspiracy.

Seezox is facing additional charges including eight counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and misdemeanor charges of corruption of minors and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. She is being held in county prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The same charges, with the exception of corruption of minors, were filed against Matuke, who is in prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Kelly Wilson was additionally charged with four counts of possession with intent to deliver and two counts of possession.

Courtney A. Wilson, Amber R. Wallace, Loriann McKinney, James R. Hutchinson III and Rainy Marie Rose were additionally charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver and two counts of possession. Richelle A. Robertson was charged with the six felony charges.
