Carrara

Robert McCandless Carrara passed away on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024.

He was born in Halston, Pa., on Jan. 11, 1932. He was the only child of the late John and Estella Carrara. He is survived by his wife, Hedy Carrara of Cranberry Township; and daughter, Susan Carrara of Sutton, Alaska.

Known as Bob to his many friends and family, he proudly served as a hospital corpsman during the Korean War. He was stationed at a naval base on an island in Bermuda. It was there he met the former Hedwig Brzana, known to all as Hedy. In 1954, they were married in Shippensburg, Pa. A year later, their daughter, Susan Carrara, was born. A few years later came a son, the late Michael Carrara.

Bob was a devoted member of VFW Post 7505 in Mars. He was post Quartermaster at one time and later became the District Quartermaster.

His passing has left a hole in our hearts.

He will be interred with military honors due him, at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
