Charles ‘Chuck’ Kuntz Jr.

Charles E. “Chuck” Kuntz Jr., 85, of Butler, passed away at his home on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Chuck was born Dec. 22, 1938, in Pittsburgh, to the late Charles E. Kuntz Sr. and the late Helen M. (Wintergreen) Kuntz.

Chuck attended Peabody and Washington Vocational schools. He was an operator for Butler Area Sewer Authority for many years and served as union president. After retirement from BASA in 2000, he worked for Valley Lines as a school bus driver. Chuck was pivotal in organizing and starting the Special Olympics in Butler County.

He enjoyed swimming, going to the casino and traveling to Myrtle Beach, S.C., with his family. Above all else, Chuck was a family man and loved going to his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren's football games.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carol (Thompson) Kuntz, whom he married on Sept. 21, 1962; two sons, Shawn and Charles “Chuck” Kuntz; one daughter, Rochelle (Scott) Bowser; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Henry), Shelby (Clifford) and Nick (Reena); three great-grandchildren, Logan, Kane and Augustus “Augie”; one brother, Clifford Kuntz; one sister, Darlene Parkinson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Milford Kuntz; his sister, Deanna Thompson; his granddaughter, Erika Kuntz; and his daughter-in-law, Leslie Kuntz.

KUNTZ — Family and friends of Charles E. “Chuck” Kuntz Jr., who died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following visitation at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
