Butler man arrested for DUI, evading arrest
State police took a man into custody during the early morning of Dec. 22 after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of suspected drugs in the suspect’s vehicle.
Jon Phillip Neely, 36, of Butler, was spotted driving south on South Monroe Street at around 2 a.m. traveling well below the speed limit in a vehicle with a broken right taillight.
According to the police complaint, as the officer began to follow the vehicle, Neely began making multiple quick turns until he eventually pulled over, forgetting to put the vehicle in park, and took off on foot.
Once apprehended, police searched the 2012 Honda Accord that Neely was driving, found drug paraphernalia, including empty needles and a glass smoking pipe, according to the report.
In addition to the paraphernalia, a white substance suspected of being crack cocaine also was found in the vehicle, according to police.
The police report also states that Neely was showing “multiple signs of impairment and admitted using cocaine and either fentanyl, heroin or xylazine” before he got into his vehicle and drove.
Neely was not able to voluntarily submit to a drug test “due to his physical state,” and was taken to Butler County Prison.
