Laurene Bowser
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, wife and friend, Laurene M. Bowser, on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, at the age of 92, after a life richly lived.
She was born in Butler County on Nov. 7, 1932, as the daughter of the late Beulah and Charles Dunkel.
She worked various jobs, she but took the most pride in being a wonderful caregiver to many. She enjoyed bowling and was a Flames and Flickers mom. She took great pride in corresponding with family and friends by cards and letters. She enjoyed traveling with her family across the United States and around the world. Laurene brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with her kind and caring heart, radiant smile, and spunky, sassy personality. The depth of love and happiness she shared is forever interwoven in our hearts.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Elizabeth Lowers (the late Benjamin) of Parker, James Bowser (Mary Cowan) of Altoona, Sarah Bowser Curdo (the late Peter) of Bruin, Nancy (Carl) Marano of Emlenton, Tracy (Philip) Shuffstall of Rockland, Ronald (Tammy) Bowser of West Sunbury, Gary (Ginnie) Bowser of Parker and Marcella (Michael) McConnell of Clarion; a daughter-in-law, Charlene Bowser; over 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Genevieve Dunkel Early; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Arnold Leroy Bowser, whom she married on March 18, 1957, and who passed away June 13, 1993; one daughter and five sons, Lawrence Allen Bowser, Jerry Eugene Bowser, Allen Eugene Bowser, Barbara Alice Bowser (Richard Lowers), Arnold Leroy “Bud” Bowser Jr. and infant Charles; and her four brothers.
BOWSER — Visitation for Laurene M. Bowser, who died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 132 Main St., West Sunbury. A celebration of Laurene’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jay Croyle officiating. Burial to follow at Rosewood Cemetery.
Laurene’s family suggests donations may be made in Laurene’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
