Police: Two drivers to be charged in separate accidents on Tuesday
It wasn’t a very merry Christmas Eve for two Butler County drivers who were each charged with unsafe driving offenses after two separate crashes Tuesday.
Michael O’Brien, 48, of New Castle, was charged with driving at unsafe speed after crashing his GMC Savana on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township in a single-car crash around 4:29 a.m. Christmas Eve.
According to the police report, O’Brien was traveling south on I-79 when he lost control of the SUV, which veered off the side of the road and traveled up an embankment before rolling onto its roof.
In a separate crash on Three Degree Road in Penn Township, 20-year-old Adrionna Jones, of Butler, was charged with driving at unsafe speed after crashing her Volkswagen Jetta.
According to the police report, Jones was traveling north on Three Degree Road at 35 mph — too fast for conditions. At 7:41 a.m., Jones lost control of the Jetta while trying to make a left turn, leaving the road and coming to rest in a creek bed.
Both suffered injuries, but neither was taken to the hospital, police said. O’Brien suffered injuries of “unknown severity.” Jones suffered a “suspected minor injury.”
