The wealthy have too much influence over politics
To uncover the real “deep state,” one needs to look no farther than the Supreme Court, the billionaires and mega-corporations that, I feel, own our politicians and use them to control the U.S. economy.
By legalizing dark money contributions to politicians via Citizens United, the Supreme Court has given billionaires and mega-corporations free rein to buy off politicians, without us knowing which politicians serve at their beck and call. The politicians can then be pressured to distribute huge federal contracts, subsidies and tax breaks to the ultrarich, rather than working for us to close the grossly unfair wealth gap that steals the American dream from working class people.
The deep state is NOT the hard working, taxpaying civil servants that keep our government running — it’s the billionaires and mega-corporations. Think of the entities that I feel place profits over our health (and that of the planet) — like Elon Musk, big oil and gas, big tobacco, big pharma and big meat and dairy. Do you really think they have America’s best interests at heart?
