Connoquenessing Township looking to replace guardrails on Powder Mill Road

CONNOQUENESSING TWP — At their last meeting of the year, the township supervisors heard, but ultimately tabled, a motion to replace the guardrails on Powder Mill Road at the intersection with Rutledge Lane that were damaged in an accident earlier this month.

The accident took place on Dec. 5, a day marked by snow in Butler County.

“We had a truck that ended up veering off the road and into the culvert,” said township supervisor Angela Fleeger. “Fortunately, it was not a fatality, but it was a very serious accident.”

During the meeting, Fleeger also mentioned there had been “multiple accidents” on Powder Mill Road in the past.

According to Fleeger, the township recently received three different quotes from one individual regarding a replacement set of guardrails. However, Fleeger still wants to get additional quotes for the guardrail before the next township meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

“We tabled that this evening so that we could continue to gather more information as far as the location of the guard rails, costs and just different aspects of where we plan to actually place the guard rail if we end up agreeing on that,” Fleeger said.
