The Evans City Pharmacy and Gift Shoppe at 201 E. Main Street in Evans City announced that it will cease all pharmacy operations by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31.

According to management, all pharmacy files will be transferred to Hometown Pharmacy, 3 Northgate Plaza in Harmony, but files can be transferred to a preferred pharmacy by the customer if requested.

The announcement came from a post on the business’s Facebook page on Dec. 30, citing “rising costs and low, unfair drug reimbursements” and was confirmed Tuesday by the Butler Eagle.

“The Ownership and staff wish to thank all who have long supported the business and we have valued your friendship, trust and loyalty over the years to serve your health needs,” the business said on its Facebook page.

Management said that the gift shop will remain open for about two weeks.

It is unclear what will happen to the building at this time management officials said, but they are actively exploring options and should make a decision in the coming weeks.
