2 charged with endangering children in Adams Ridge

A man and woman have been charged with endangering the welfare of children after police said they left three children home alone for more than 4 hours.

Adams Township police charged Jake V. Reges, 33, of Mars, with endangering the welfare of children and harassment, and Margret J.H. Miller, 40, of Coraopolis, with two counts of endangering the welfare of children following a Dec. 7 incident.

The mother of one of the children, an 8-year-old boy, called police and reported that her son called her and said he was scared and hungry, could not reach his father, Reges, and was alone with two other children at an Adams Ridge residence, according to an affidavit.

She said she went to the home and found her son and the other children, aged 7 and 5 years old, alone, according to an affidavit. The two younger children were supposed to be in the care and custody of Miller, police said.

Surveillance video showed Miller’s vehicle leaving the home at 5:55 p.m. and returning at 11:09 p.m. Video shows a woman driving with a male passenger, police said. The oldest boy’s mother arrived at 10:30 p.m. Police said the children were alone from 5:55 to 10:30 p.m.
