Alice Jean Snow
Alice Jean Snow, 77, of Butler, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, while under the care of Quality Life Services — Sugar Creek, in Worthington.
Born Aug. 25, 1947, in Butler, she was the adopted daughter of the late Warren and Mildred (Simon) Snow.
Alice Jean graduated from Karns City High School and went on to attend Butler County Community College, Bob Jones University, Slippery Rock University and California University of Pennsylvania. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education and went on to teach elementary education in the Moniteau School District.
Alice Jean was a member of First United Methodist Church in Butler. She belonged to Blazing Star Choral Society, Musical Theatre Guild, West Sunbury Rebekah Lodge, National Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, M.E.A. (formerly Petrolia Fire Auxiliary), Fairview Township Parks & Recreation, and Red Hat Society. Alice Jean enjoyed sewing, spoon and thimble collecting, taking cruises, pictures and history.
She is survived by her siblings, James Dunkle and his wife, Patty, Patty LeCuyer, Robert Dunkle, Debra McCowin and her husband, Richard Leon, and Linda Jones; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alice Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Clifford Dunkle; her sister, Esther Sinclair; and a stepsister.
SNOW — Family and friends of Alice Jean Snow, who died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Janz officiating.
She will be laid to rest in Bear Creek Cemetery in Petrolia.
