Clay Township 2025 budget sees slight dip in income, expenses

Clay Township’s budget will see expenses and an expected income of $744,550 each for the 2025 fiscal year, but no change in property tax rates.

The budget resolution was passed by the supervisors Dec. 5, with both income and expenses down from 2024’s $779,950.

According to the township’s budget documents, it has a general fund balance of $843,896 heading into the new year.

Supervisors Dale Anderson, Jeffrey Scott and Greg Tebay approved the budget 3-0.

Clay residents will pay 2.8 mills for property taxes, 1.7 mills for debt service, 1.12 mills for fire taxes. This will add up to 5.62 mills, around $0.56 on each $100 of assessed property valuation, according to township documents from the Dec. 5 meeting.

These are in addition to existing property tax millage rates of 97.380 mills for the Moniteau School District and 27.626 mills for Butler County, according to the township website.

Total income from taxes were listed at $485,500, an increase of $28,550 from 2024. The township will see other areas of income, such as state shared revenues, host landfill fees and total charges for services drop off from 2024 amounts.

According to the township’s website, per capita taxes are $5 for each resident older than 18 for the township, as well as $10 for each resident toward the Moniteau School District.
