High school roundup: North Catholic basketball rolls as Jude Rottmann scores 26; Seneca Valley boys, girls win
A strong second quarter helped North Catholic boys basketball breeze by Burrell 66-44 on the road Friday night. The Trojans out-scored the hosts 22-3 in the eight minutes of action before halftime.
Jude Rottmann nailed six 3-pointers and led all scorers with 26 points. Owen Maddalon added 16 for North.
Seneca Valley 57, New Castle 54 — Andrew Omasits bucketed a Raiders-best 19 points, Owen Congdon added 12 and Tyler Pepin and Nico Santapau 11 each as Seneca Valley won on the road.
Freeport 62, Valley 53 — Carson Kane had 20 points and Mike Graczyk 15, lifting the Yellowjackets to their first section win of the year.
Seneca Valley defeated North Hills 54-25 on the road. The Raiders move to 7-4 on the season, with a 2-0 record in WPIAL Section 1-6A play. No stats were available from the game.
Oakland Catholic 47, Knoch 16 — The Knights (4-7, 3-1 in Section 1-4A) managed just nine points before the fourth quarter of the defeat. Neah Ewing had a team-high eight points.
Butler boys basketball’s home game against Woodland Hills Friday night was postponed due to snow to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
A few other local games were also impacted by the weather.
Mars’ boys and girls home games against Montour have been postponed to a date to be determined. And Summit Academy’s boys game against Avella has been postponed to a date also to be determined.
