State police reports crash, enforcement statistics over New Year’s
State police released a report Friday, Jan. 3, tallying 425 crashes and 254 DUI arrests during the New Year’s travel period.
The period, defined as Dec. 31 to Jan. 2, saw 31 crashes related to impaired driving. Police also reported one fatal crash.
While the number of crashes during the travel period had risen compared to 2024, from 336 to 425, other statistics fell significantly. DUI crashes fell from 47 to 31, DUI arrests from 326 to 254 and speeding citations from 3,833 to 2,727.
Butler County’s coverage under Troop D saw 15 total crashes, the second lowest between all 16 troops. Troop D also issued the least amount of speeding citations at 54 total.
The data reported by state police only covers what was personally investigated, and does not factor incidents from local law enforcement.
