Citations issued after tree falls on pickup following crash
State police released a report on a crash that occurred in Cherry Township on Monday, Dec. 30.
David Herold, 39, and April Herold, 38, of Petrolia, were traveling eastbound on Branchton Road. According to police, the vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane before leaving the road and hitting a tree.
The tree was downed, landing on top of the vehicle, police said. Both occupants were injured and a medical helicopter was called in for David Herold.
David Herold was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh, while April Herold was taken by ambulance to AHN Grove City.
State police and West Sunbury, Marion Township and Slippery Rock fire departments, received the call around 4 p.m.
According to documents, April was issued four traffic citations. Charges are pending against David.
