Emily Rumbaugh
Emily R. Rumbaugh, 86, of Butler, formerly of Nectarine, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, at Advanced Care Center of Butler.
Emily was born Nov. 27, 1938, in Butler. She was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Ida H. (Marchinoski) Codispot.
Emily graduated from Butler Area High School in 1956. She was married to Ronald “Walt” Rumbaugh on July 31, 1977. Walt passed away April 22, 2016.
At a very young age, Emily worked at Willard Hotel and Elks Club in Butler. Emily worked at Montgomery Ward and A.E. Troutman for many years as an office worker.
Emily attended the St. Michael the Archangel Church in Butler earlier in life. Her favorite pastime was her accordion. She learned to play it at a young age and was proud of that accomplishment. Emily and her sister, Dolly, who played the piano, entertained the family at gatherings, especially playing for their parents “Polka-oldies.”
Loved ones to cherish Emily’s memory are her sister, Barbara Stanko of Butler; her son, Douglas E. Bonzer of Ohio; her stepchildren, Debra F. Bonzer of Ohio, Donna L. Kline of Sharon and Donald L. Rumbaugh of Harrisville; and Emily’s daughter-in-law, Beverly Bonzer of North Carolina. She also is survived by numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Emily was welcomed into heaven by her parents; the love of her life and husband, Walt; her son, Wallace “Wally” J. Bonzer, who passed July 21, 2017; her stepsons, Ronald Rumbaugh, who passed March 31, 2010, and William (Bill) Rumbaugh, who passed Dec. 9, 2013. Emily’s three sisters, Joan Gray, Delores Caccamo and Mary Fragale; and her brother, Joseph Codispot, have also passed.
A special thank you to Emily ‘s niece, Sharon, who went above and beyond to help her.
