Janie Ruth Dyer Budd, 89, of Saxonburg and formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away at Embassy Hospice in Saxonburg on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024.

Janie was born on Aug. 15, 1935, in Little Rock, Ark., to Earl Dyer and Addie Rena Dyer.

Janie attended Little Rock public schools and later graduated from Dumbar College. She worked at Baptist Hospital as an X-ray technician and EEG technician. From there she moved to Fayetteville, Ark., where she became a EKG technician.

Janie married Harry Budd on Nov. 15, 1965, and he preceded her in death on July 23, 2006. Upon moving to Slippery Rock, she continued her career in health care, working at Butler Memorial Hospital and Grove City Hospital, from where she later retired. Janie suffered a stroke in 2019 from which she never completely recovered.

Janie was an active member of Center Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed participating in the church choir. She also sang with The Bach Society of Grove City. She enjoyed quilting and helping with the “Feed My Sheep” food cupboard.

Surviving are her son, Arthur J. (Kimberly) Budd of Lancaster, Calif.; along with granddaughter, Medora Jane Budd; grandson, Jeffrey Allan Budd; sister, Helen Craig of Maryland; stepdaughter, Harriet Houff of Little Rock; and stepson, Allan Budd of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings, Earl, Issac and Eloise.

BUDD — There will be a celebration of life service for Janie Ruth Dyer Budd, who died Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at Center Presbyterian Church, 211 Center St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. William C. Mumaw presiding.

The family will be unable to attend the service but those wishing to attend may do so in person or view it on the Center Presbyterian Church YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@centerpresbyterianchurchin8405.

Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s choice.

Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
