Winter weather update: What Butler County can expect over the weekend
Butler County saw hazardous conditions all day Friday, Jan. 3, featuring school closures, low visibility and snow squalls across the region.
While the snow is expected to let up through most of the weekend, residents should be prepared for a possible second storm Sunday evening.
According to Rich Redmond of the National Weather Service, Butler County saw continued squalls, stretching from around 1:30 p.m. into the evening.
Redmond stated that more snowfall is expected overnight that may contribute another 2 to 3 inches in the heavier bands.
For Saturday, Butler County residents can expect chilly and cloudy conditions, but likely no additional snow for the day. Temperatures are not expected to go above the mid-20s range.
Conditions Sunday are expected to be similar to Saturday, with a chance of some sunshine in the morning. However, more snow may affect the area Sunday night.
According to Redmond, most areas of Butler County may see up to 2 inches. However, the southern portion of Butler County may see up to 4 inches.
“There’s a lot of uncertainty right now,” Redmond said. “There’s a chance Butler County will see no additional accumulation.”
Redmond advised extreme caution to drivers if more squalls appear.
