Butler school districts receive Farm Bill grants for ag projects
Nearly $40,000 in state farm bill grants are set to go to several Butler County school districts for agriculture projects.
The Shapiro administration announced over $500,000 in funding for 58 projects in 29 counties “to encourage young Pennsylvanians to enter the agriculture industry.”
In Butler County, funding includes $25,000 to the Butler Area School District for its BASD Secondary Greenhouse project, Seneca Valley School District received $7,500 for its SV Living Laboratory and School Garden, and Moniteau School District received $7,370 for horticultural upgrades, according to a news release.
The projects “will empower youth to succeed in Pennsylvania’s $132.5 billion agriculture industry,” according to the release.
Pennsylvania’s 2024-25 state budget includes funding for a sixth year of agriculture grants through the PA Farm Bill.
