High school roundup: Karns City girls improve to 9-1 thanks to 35 points from Savanna Prescott, Brooklynn Taylor

Karns City’s Savanna Prescott and Brooklynn Taylor formed one formidable duo as the Gremlins topped Clarion-Limestone 49-32 in a girls basketball game Tuesday.

Prescott bucketed 19 points and Taylor 16 for KC (9-1).

Redbank Valley 64, Moniteau 44 — Despite featuring three players scoring in double figures, the Warriors fell to the host Bulldogs.

Alyssa Thompson had 15 points for Moniteau (3-9), Charlotte Thompson 11 and Emily Matz 10.

Mylee Harmon paced Redbank with 26 points.

Franklin 55, Slippery Rock 39 — CJ Sabo scored 20 points to pace the Rockets (7-3).

Boys basketball

In a high-scoring game, North Catholic’s stars shone brightly.

Owen Maddalon tallied 28 points, Jason Fredericks 26 and Jude Rottmann drained four 3-pointers and netted 18 points in a 92-71 victory over visiting Highlands.

The Trojans (9-4, 4-0), winners of seven straight, led 45-30 at halftime.

Carmine Lacava, Ty Hall and Troy Bielak 20 each scored 20 points for the Golden Rams.

Fairview 45, Slippery Rock 39 — The Rockets were slow out of the gate, scoring just three points in the first quarter against the host Tigers.

Josh Book scored 16 for Slippery Rock (6-3), and Max Kovacik added 10.

Deer Lakes 45, Knoch 38 — The Knights (8-4, 3-1) were frustrated in this low-scoring affair.

Jackson Bauman and Derek Lang both scored 11 points in the loss, while Teegan Finucan added 10.

Nate Moore scored 24 for the Lancers.

Moon 51, Mars 43 — Austen Wroblewski netted 15 for the Planets (6-4, 2-1), and Austin Campbell chipped in with 11.

Nazareth Prep 75, Summit Academy 53 — Ky’Zir Rowan tallied 17 points for the Knights (3-5, 0-2).

Swimming

Raely FaJohn (200-yard and 100 freestyles) and Mollie Massella (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly) both won individual events as Slippery Rock’s girls topped Grove City 106-60.

The Eagles defeated the Rockets in the boys meet 92-32.
