College roundup: SRU women’s hoops falls short against California (Pa.)
Despite shooting 53.3% from the field at California (Pa.) on Wednesday night, the Slippery Rock University women’s basketball team lost 62-59.
The Rock (6-8, 4-5 in PSAC West play) was paced in scoring by Tahmala Thorpe’s 18 points. She went 3 for 3 from beyond the arc. Regan Atkins pitched in with 15 points, and Kayley Joseph-Bernard had 14.
Vulcans snap Rock men win streak
Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team saw its 7-game win streak broken on the road at California (Pa.) with a 94-63 defeat.
The Rock shot 20 of 65 (30.8%) from the floor. Sheick Samoura had a team-high 14 points.
