Cranberry Township officials reorganize for new year

Cranberry Township supervisors held their annual reorganization meeting on Monday, Jan. 6.

Bruce Hezlep, who was first elected as a supervisor in 2013 and is in the midst of his second six-year term, was elected chairman.

Former chairman Mike Manipole will assume the role of vice chairman. Manipole, a Seneca Valley School District physical education teacher, has served as a township supervisor since 2010.

The five supervisors also retained their liaison appointments from last year, with the exception of Hezlep and Manipole.

Hezlep will now be in charge of administration matters, while Manipole will take over public works and engineering.

Karen Newpol will handle library, parks and recreation, and councils of governments.

John Skorupan, who was first elected in 1999 and is the longest tenured supervisor, will remain in charge of planning and development services, including code administration, planning commission, zoning hearing board, and building and fire codes board of appeals.

Bruce Mazzoni will manage public safety, including police, fire and emergency management. He and Skorupan will be jointly responsible for intergovernmental relations for the township.

Dan Santoro was reappointed as the township manager, a position he has held since January 2021.

The first agenda preparation meeting for 2025 will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 30 at the township’s municipal center, with the first regular meeting to take place the next week at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6.
