Post offices closed Jan. 9 for Jimmy Carter mourning day
All U.S. Post Offices across the United States, including the more than two dozen locations in Butler County, will be closed Thursday for the National Day of Mourning declared for former President Jimmy Carter. Carter died at the age of 100 on Dec. 29.
In addition, there will be no regular mail delivery Thursday, although there will be limited package delivery. Other delivery services, such as UPS and FedEx, will operate as normal.
Thursday is the day of Carter’s state funeral in Washington, D.C. As a national day of mourning, other institutions, such as federal offices, the U.S. Supreme Court, the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ will also close.
