Miller Minutes: ‘Embrace the snow’
We got our first significant snowfall of the season this week.
I’ve always been a bit of a romantic about snow. Even if it makes the commute a little more difficult, the beauty of it makes it excusable.
The freshly-fallen flakes make people a bit stagnant. We stay home from work or school to accommodate it. We are angry that it inconveniences us or changes our plans.
I’m prone to this mindset sometimes, since it always seems to snow at an inopportune time. But now that I really think about it, maybe instead we should be making plans with the snow instead of against it. After all, it’s only here for a short while.
It may seem silly for adults to build snowmen or snow forts or take a ride down the backyard hill on a sled, but I think that’s exactly what we should be doing when the weather tries to slow us down. Show it who’s boss! Who says you can’t have fun after work on the ski slopes or take a walk through the snowy woods in one of Butler County’s many parks?
If you’re at a loss for how to approach winter fun, you can take the suggestions I gave above or take a look at the events I have listed below. Either way, I hope you won’t let the cold conditions bother you too much. Embrace the snow while it’s here!
