Adams Township receives grant for new traffic signal

ADAMS TWP — The township received a grant of $600,000 to help install a traffic signal at the intersection of state Route 228 and Marland Drive, on behalf of developer Ray Nelson, who owns the Adams Town Center shopping development on state Route 228.

According to township manager Gary Peaco, Nelson previously tried to apply for a grant on his own, but was rebuffed.

“With the township backing the application, they were able to get the grant,” Peaco said. “It doesn’t cost the township anything. Any cost associated with administering the grant, the developer is paying for.”

The shopping center includes Nelson’s Kitchen & Bath and Supremo’s Pizzeria, and Peaco said that further development is taking place at the site.

“He’s going to add some other facilities there,” Peaco said. “We just don’t know what exactly he’s going to put in there yet.”
