John Black
John L. Black, 89, of Butler, passed away, Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1935, in Allegheny County, a son of the late Archibald “Archie” Black and Mary (Kelly) Black.
John was a self-employed carpenter for 30 years and also enjoyed farming. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his three sons, Keith J. (Vangie) Black of Briny Breezes, Fla., Lawrence R. (Pat) Black of Pinckney, Mich., and Randolph L. (Rhonda, his favorite daughter-in-law) Black of Butler; six grandchildren, Nicole (Nick), Eric, Roman (Natalie), Kate, Makenzie and Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet F. (Graham) Black, whom he married Feb. 4, 1961, and who passed away Feb. 3, 2015; and also eight sisters and two brothers.
BLACK — Friends of John L. Black, who died Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 864 Chicora Road, Chicora (village of North Oakland). Everyone is asked to please meet at church Friday morning for Mass.
Interment to be in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery.
