Man charged after stealing 25 Terrible Towels in Cranberry Township

Cranberry Township police charged a Harrisburg man after he allegedly stole 25 Terrible Towels worth about $340.

Richard Allen Williams, 56, was charged with retail theft after he failed to pay for $339.32 of merchandise at the Giant Eagle in Cranberry Township, according to the criminal complaint. Williams allegedly did not pay for 27 items, including the 25 Terrible Towels.

An officer responded to a call from Giant Eagle’s loss prevention officer around 1:31 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, who reported Williams dropped the items when confronted and walked through the parking lot.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, before District Judge Kevin J. Flaherty.
