College roundup: SRU basketball teams swept by Gannon in PSAC play

Slippery Rock men’s basketball fell to No. 21 Gannon on Wednesday night 90-64.

The Rock (10-8, 6-4 PSAC) got 20 points, eight rebounds and four assists from Jomo Goings, who is 40 points shy of 1,000 for his career. He would become the 25th SRU player to reach that milestone.

Ike Herster and Sheick Samoura had 15 and 10 points, respectively, against the Golden Knights, who are 10-0 in PSAC play.

SRU women lose to Gannon

It was a doubleheader sweep at the expense of SRU on Wednesday. The women lost to No. 16 Gannon 80-55, falling to 7-9 (4-6 PSAC).

Brooklyn Jones led The Rock with 12 points and four rebounds, while Regan Atkins and Alyssa Gillin each had 10 points.

Knoch grad ties career high in win

Former Knight Madilyn Boyer scored 14 points, tying her career high, in Penn State-Behrend women’s basketball’s 102-36 win over Hilbert on Wednesday.

Butler grad helps Grove City to win

Sophomore Max Gianneski, a Butler graduate, recorded seven kills Wednesday night in Grove City College men’s volleyball’s 3-0 sweep of Penn State-Behrend.

Pitt MBB drops ACC game

Florida State led from nearly start to finish, beating Pitt men’s basketball 82-70 Wednesday night.

The Panthers (12-5, 3-3 ACC) got 22 points from Jaland Lowe, but he turned the ball over eight times. The Panthers committed 17 turnovers. Jorge Diaz Graham scored 17 points and Ishmael Leggett 13 in the loss.

Pitt women drop battle with NC State

Khadija Faye scored a career-high 28 points in the Panthers’ 83-67 loss to No. 21 NC State.

Pitt (9-10, 1-5 ACC) got 16 points from Marley Washenitz and 11 from Mikayla Johnson.
