Ronald Gross Sr.
Ronald G. Gross Sr., 84, of Cabot, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, at his home.
Born Jan. 24, 1940, in Natrona Heights, he was the son of Francis Gross and Stella Hughes Gross Jablonski.
Ron began driving truck at age 18. He bought his first truck in 1966 and grew from there. In 1982, he bought Fred’s Trucking and started Ronald Gross, Inc. It was an eight-truck operation that has grown to where it is today, with the third generation active in the business.
He attended Zion Methodist Community Church. He was a member of the William H. Miller Lodge 769 F&AM, The Scottish Rite Consistory, Valley of New Castle and the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association. He enjoyed fishing, traveling out West and going to the races with the boys.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Bicker) Gross, whom he married Feb. 26, 1965; two sons, Ronald (Elaine) Gross Jr. and Barry (Debi) Gross; two daughters, Connie (Dan) Harbison and Carol (Tim) Zang; his sister, Kathy (Amy Trulik) Logan; 11 grandchildren, Ben (Colleen) Harbison, Kristina (Chris) Adler, Jonathon Zang, Aaron Zang, Cory Gross, Ryan (Megan) Gross, Caralyn (Trevor) Gross, Shawn Gross, Cody (Madison) Gross, Amanda Gross and Jason Lauer; and nine great-grandchildren, Willow, Wren, Ruby, Aurora and Daisy Adler, Maverick and Mitchell Harbison, Dylan Gross and TJ Lauer.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Joe Jablonski; his stepmother, June Gross; and a granddaughter, Jessica Lauer.
Truckers’ Last Ride Poem: He traveled the roads in years gone past. A life he chose and hoped would last. He parked his truck now. His engine has stopped, and those who love him their hearts have dropped. Now with a smile of great pride he drives the streets of heaven on his last ride.
GROSS — Friends of Ronald G. Gross Sr., who died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, Saxonburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025, at the funeral home with the Rev. Seth McClymonds officiating.
