While school districts across Butler County opted to keep buses off the roads Thursday, Jan. 16, snow continued to fall on already snow-covered roads.

As the day continues, a meteorologist from the National Weather Service of Pittsburgh reported an additional 2-3 inches of snow is expected via light, dry, steady snowfall throughout the day.

Some areas could see more due to lake effects, the weather service said in a Thursday phone call.

A winter weather advisory will be in affect for Butler County through 4 a.m. Jan. 17, the weather service reports.

Most snowfall Thursday will accumulate during daylight hours with little accumulation after sunset.

High temperatures will be in the upper 20s and drop to the low 20s overnight.
