Grove City College has received a $5 million grant from Lilly Endowment, a private philanthropic foundation based in Indianapolis, to support the college’s Center for Rural Ministry, a program which boosts pastors and congregations in rural areas.

The funding comes from the Lilly’s Ministry in Rural Areas and Small Towns Initiative. The Center for Rural Ministry was launched in 2023, after the college’s successful pilot project, the Project for Rural Ministry.

Funding will be used to connect students and faculty to rural and small-town churches, among other initiatives.

This marks the third, and by far the largest, investment Lilly Endowment has made in Grove City College’s rural religious outreach efforts. This follows a grant of nearly $1 million to the Project for Rural Ministry, and a grant of $400,000 which helped start the Center for Rural Ministry.
